The Skye Tour
The Isle of Skye is rightly famed for its natural beauty, its air of romance, its history and mystery that make it one of Scotlands most popular destinations.
Skye is steeped in history with a beautiful landscape to match. The drive there is spectacular, through GlenShiel with our detour over the Mam Ratagan to Glenelg and Arnisdale. This is one of the most scenic and beautiful parts of the country, before heading back to Glenelg for the short ferry trip to Skye or via road past Eilan Donan castle. This tour can be customised for those with ancestry from the area to visit the sites of their clan heritage.
The tour begins in Inverness, with a stop at Urquhart Castle for a view down Loch Ness before proceeding to Glen Shiel and the spectacular drive around Loch Duich and up the Mam Ratagan road pass for truly spectacular views of the ‘Five Sisters of Kintail’ and onto the village or Arnisdale, which is situated below the steep mountains on the shores of Loch Hourn. We turn back, to either catch the ferry from Glenelg to Skye, or back via Eilan Donan Castle and onwards to Skye. Eilan Donan Castle and Plockton will be visited on the return from Skye, if the small ferry is the chosen route, which may not always be possible.
On Skye, we will head to all the major destinations, The Cuillin Mountains, The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, The Quiraing or if there is a particular place you want to visit, we can head straight there.
With stops to enjoy the scenery the anticipated time for this route can be 11 hours.
Please note that the route can be customised to suit individual timeframes.
